Diabetes Without insulin the glucose cannot be used by the body!

Diabetes is caused by a disorder in which a person’s body has a problem in the way food used for energy and growth is digested. Almost all the food we eat, once digested, is converted into glucose. Glucose is the main source of fuel for the body but diabetes causes glucose to back up in the bloodstream.

If this situation remains unchecked, levels of glucose in the blood increase to dangerous levels. Two main types of diabetes occur; information on both is looked at briefly here.

Young people (sometimes older) are liable to contract type one diabetes which occurs when the body stops producing insulin which results in the affected person requiring an insulin injection daily to live. Type two diabetes affects adults and is sometimes called late onset diabetes and is caused when the insulin is either not being produced in sufficient quantities or there is a problem in its use; however a careful diet plan can usually treat the condition.

Without insulin the glucose cannot be used by the body to be converted into energy. We all eat foods that are rich in energy which the body uses to convert into sugar for energy like pasta, potatoes, bread, rice and fruit.
